An acclaimed saxophonist and composer Thabani Gapara has crafted Dzindza – which means “Roots” in his mother tongue Shona – as a tribute to his cultural roots. Each original composition on the album tells a story, reflecting Gapara’s deep connection to his heritage while showcasing his talent for merging the old with the new. And to add to the joy, Thabani and his band will feature some of the beloved music that audiences around Aotearoa have enjoyed, a mix of afro-soul originals and favourite classics you will recognise instantly – and fall in love with these musicians’ interpretations of them.
