The COLETTE JANSEN TRIO is committed to delivering modern stylings of contemporary music. Their eclectic array of songs from the past and present are delivered with a tastefully soulful blend of rhythm ‘n blues, pop, jazz, grooves and bright beats.

Colette’s vocals have been described as expressive, warm and smooth, but she’s also been known to pump out a mean blues along with some riffs on her harmonica. This dynamic trio includes three professional musicians who have years of experience between them.

COLETTE JANSEN (vocals)... grew up in Nelson and performed with her sisters at functions and socials as a young girl.
Work and career saw her move around the country. She has now returned to her hometown as a qualified and registered music therapist.
Colette has studied jazz vocals at Ara, performed with many lineups at festivals, café’s, private functions, on TV and now also sings with the Nelson Jazz Club Big Band.
Her work in commercial radio saw her develop as a session and jingle singer.
She has traveled and performed with the Christchurch Symphony working alongside the likes of Frankie Stevens and Phil Madsen.
She also wrote and hosted several series of jazz programmes on Radio New Zealand.
In 2014, she released a CD of jazz standards with legendary Christchurch jazz pianist the late Doug Caldwell performing those songs at the Nelson Jazz Festival and for the Wellington Jazz Club.

BARRY KORCHESKI (A.K.A BAZ) (keyboard, Hammond organ)... has performed in Canada, the United States, Australia, New Zealand and on several cruise ships including the original "Love Boat".
He has performed at weddings, corporate events, Broadway shows, night clubs, five star restaurants, piano bars, Nelson and Vancouver Jazz Festivals and public performances at Nelson's newly renovated NCMA theatre.
Based in Nelson for the past 20 years Barry has played with several Nelson bands and as a guest entertainer on cruise ships.
Barry is delighted to link up with Colette and Alan and looks forward to performing with the trio across New Zealand and abroad.

ALAN BURDEN (drums, percussion)... relocated to Nelson from Wellington in 2018 after many years of playing music in that city.
He plays a variety of drum and percussion instruments in several genres.  His preferred style is jazz on the drum kit.
Other present and past musical engagements include; forming and leading the Paradise Dance Band, playing congas and percussion for local Latin band Los Galanes, playing drums and percussion for musical theatre, orchestra, big band jazz, rock, blues, world music and in a wide variety of dance and performance groups and styles.
Alan also has an interest in Mediterranean, Eastern European, Balkan, and Arabic music, and plays percussion instruments from those cultures, including having been a long-term percussion player for Wellington flamenco dance troupe “Desde Sevilla”.
Alan has performed widely within New Zealand, and has played at music festivals here and in Australia.
