Nelson Jazz Club, Founders Heritage Park and Nelson City Council are pleased to bring back to 2024 the Jazz on the Village Green Sunday afternoon series.

Ampersand are performing Sunday 28th January, 1pm.

The jazz trio Ampersand are offering their flavour of jazz mixed with some blues and funky grooves. The band consists of Brett Holland (guitar and vocals), Fraser Campbell (bass) and Tony Bowater (drums). They perform a mix of vocal tunes and instrumental songs.

The three musicians first played together 15 years ago in the Mister Nobody Quintet, performed regularly on the local jazz scene and three times at the Nelson Jazz Festival and at the Nelson Arts Festival. With Brett moving back to the area, he and Tony rekindled the jazz flame and are thrilled Fraser has recently joined them, debuting at last years Founders Jazz in the Park series.

They perform a handful of original tunes along with their take on standards by Herbie Hancock and John Scofield among others.

Bring your picnic, chairs, rugs, sunscreen and hats for Sunday afternoon entertainment.
